Texas A&M Faculty & Staff Meeting Recap
The newly-formed Brazos Valley CPA Texas A&M Faculty & Staff Network held its first quarterly meeting on August 13, 2013.  Fifteen members were in attendance, and feedback was overwhelmingly-positive.  Chapter President Rodney Horrell, Texas A&M, provided a Chapter Update to the group, outlined the purpose of this initiative, and fielded questions from attendees.  The group will next meet in November.  The Chapter established this professional networking mechanism for BVCPA members who are currently employed within the Texas A&M System or affiliated organizations.  The network’s purpose is to allow its members to connect as colleagues and professionals.  This endeavor is part of a larger emphasis by the Chapter to meet the needs of its members in Business & Industry.  If you would like to be a part of the BVCPA Texas A&M Faculty & Staff Network and have not received communications on this initiative, please contact Chapter President Rodney Horrell at rhorrell@tamu.edu or 979-845-6707.

A man piloting a hot air balloon discovers that he has wandered off course and is hopelessly lost. He descends to a lower altitude and locates a man on the ground. He lowers the balloon further and shouts, “Excuse me, can you tell me where I am?”

The man below says, “Yes, you are in a hot air balloon, about thirty feet above this field.”

“You must be an accountant,” says the balloonist.

“Yes I am” replies the man. “And how did you know that”

“Well” says the balloonist, “what you tell me is technically correct, but of no use to anyone.”

The man below says, “You must be a manager.”

“Well, yes I am” replies the balloonist, “how did you know?”

“Well”, says the accountant, “you don’t know where you are, or where you’re going, but you expect my immediate help. You’re in the same position you were before we met, but now it’s my fault.”
